The new home of manga analysis!

Hi everyone,

My name is Luke, and I recently finished reading my one-hundredth manga series.

Manga is such an amazing medium. It utilises unique techniques, artistry and a fascinating culture to create compelling and engrossing stories. Some of my fondest experiences are a direct result of manga, and it elicits feelings no other medium can. Out of my love for manga, I’ve decided to discuss each of these 100 series. While this project will be rewarding in itself, it does have other purposes.

While I’ll be starting this project with my top ten manga, I feel that many series are not given enough attention. Manga like Dragon Ball and Akira are prolific, and should be treated as such. However, it seems that other exceptional pieces are left without much air time. Particularly now, when the amount of manga accessible is almost a burden for readers. By reviewing every manga I’ve read, it allows me to discuss great manga that lie on the outskirts of our collective consciousness. It will be deeply satisfying to discuss these commendable series.

Another reason for creating this site is to introduce readers to obscure manga that may have very little exposure. In my 10+ years of reading manga, I’ve discovered many series by accident or by taking a chance, and many of these decisions have paid off. I now have a platform where I can promote old, obscure and incredibly weird reads, and hopefully recommend manga that other people will enjoy. As, ultimately, the community surrounding manga is also what makes the medium so special.

I’m going to release my top 10 favourite manga of all time in one large list. From there, I will periodically release the other 90 manga reviews, and other forms of content about the various mediums I enjoy. The only stipulation with the list is that only completed series will be on it. Though I have read many ongoing series, I don’t want to write a review on them without a completely holistic view, which isn’t possible without reading it to completion. In general, it wouldn’t be accurate, or respectful to judge these manga based off of a fraction of its content (though I may discuss dropped manga and why I didn’t enjoy them).

After discussing the 100 manga series, hopefully I’ll have read a ton more manga to explore too! I hope that you’ll support me on this new journey, and I can’t wait to meet new, like minded people who love manga just as much as I do!
